I’m Natashia Gravett — a writer, researcher of forgotten stories, and workshop facilitator.
My work lives in the space between memory and imagination. I’m drawn to the stories that don’t sit neatly on the surface — the ones buried in family histories, hidden in archives, or half-remembered through generations. Names, identity, ancestry, and the quiet strangeness of ordinary lives are at the heart of what I create.
I’m currently studying for a Master’s in Creative Writing, where I explore hybrid forms that blend fiction and creative nonfiction. Much of my writing is rooted in real histories, but reimagined — asking not just what happened, but what it meant, and what still lingers.
My Work
Alongside my writing, I run Write Anyway workshops — creative writing sessions designed for real life.
They’re for people who:
- want to write but feel stuck
- think they’re “not creative enough”
- haven’t written in years
- or are juggling writing with work, family, and everything else
The focus isn’t perfection. It’s showing up.
I believe writing doesn’t need ideal conditions — it just needs a way in.
What I’m Interested In
My work often explores:
- ancestry and inherited stories
- forgotten or overlooked lives
- the relationship between past and present
- the meaning of names and identity
- the strange, eerie, or uncanny edges of everyday life
I’m especially interested in the point where fact and imagination blur — where a real story opens the door to something deeper.
A Bit More Personal
Outside of writing, I’m usually deep in research — tracing family lines, reading historical records, or following small details that lead to bigger stories.
I’m also balancing writing alongside a full-time career and family life, which is exactly why I’m so passionate about helping others build a creative practice that actually fits into their world.
